Types of Housing/Care Search Definitions
Assisted Living Services Agency Assisted Living Assisted Living Services Agency provides nursing services and assistance with activities of daily living to clients living within a managed residential community having supportive services that encourage clients primarily age fifty-five (55) or older to maintain a maximum level of independence. Routine household services may be provided as assisted living services by the assisted living services agency or by the managed residential community. These services provide an alternative for elderly persons who require some help or aid with activities of daily living or nursing services in order to remain in their private residential units within the managed residential community.
Chronic & Convalescent Nursing Home Nursing Chronic & Convalescent Nursing Homes are long-term institutions having facilities and all necessary personal to provide skilled nursing care under medical supervision and direction. Nursing Homes carry out simple, non-surgical treatment and dietary procedures for chronic disease or convalescent stages or acute diseases or injuries.
Continuing Care Retirement Community Continuing Care Retirement Community A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) is a facility that provides elderly people with a lifetime "continuum of care," although there is a no legal age requirement. Residents must usually pay a one-time entry fee, which can easily be more than $100,000, and continuing monthly payments, often ranging between $1,000 and $3,000. Thus, people must have considerable private resources to live in a CCRC. They usually obtain the entry price by selling their houses. At first, the senior lives in an independent apartment and later, when he becomes frailer, can receive assisted living services there or move into an assisted living unit. CCRCs often have small nursing homes on their premises or have a contract with a nearby nursing home for residents who ultimately need 24-hour care. They also provide some common meals and have other common spaces for leisure and recreation programs, provide housekeeping, laundry services, and transportation.
Homemaker-Home Health Aide Agency Home Care Homemaker-Home Health Aide Agencies are organizations that provide, in the senior patient's home or substantially equivalent environment, supportive services which may include but are not limited to, assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, feeding and incidental household tasks which are essential to achieve adequate household and family management. Such supportive services are provided under the supervision of a Connecticut licensed registered nurse. The following additional services may be provided if determined appropriate: social work, physical therapy, speech therapy or occupational therapy. Homemaker-Home Health Aide Agencies do not accept Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement for services.
Home Health Care Agencies Home Care Home Health Care Agencies are organizations that provide professional nursing services, Homemaker- Home Health Aide Services, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and medical social services in the patient's home or a substantially equivalent environment. Home Health Care Agency Services are available twenty-four hours per day. Agency personnel are also available to enroll new patient's twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week.
Hospice Hospice Hospice Care is primarily engaged in providing care to terminally ill patients and their families. The services provided may include physician care, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, counseling, medical social services, Homemaker-Home Health Aides, medical supplies, respite care and acute hospital care.
Residential Care Homes Residential Care Residential Care Homes have facilities and all necessary personnel to furnish food, shelter and laundry for two or more persons unrelated to the proprietor and in addition, providing services of a personal nature which do not require the training or skills of a licensed nurse. Additional services of a personal nature may include assistance with bathing and dressing, preparation of special diets and supervision over medications, which are self-administered.
Rest Home with Nursing Supervision Nursing Rest Homes have facilities and all necessary personnel to provide, in additional to personal care required in a residential home care, nursing supervision under medical direction twenty-four hours per day for elderly or disabled individuals.
