Types of Care Search Definitions
Adult Day Services Adult Day Care Adult Day Services provide a protective environment within a state licensed non-residential facility (or setting) for older adults who are not capable of full time independent living. Adult Daycare facilities in Pennsylvania, depending on the setting, can range from the medical to the social service model. Adult Daycare facilities for the elderly are licensed and inspected by the Department of Aging
Affordable Senior Housing Affordable Senior Housing HUD 202 Program that offers rental assistance for seniors who meet the requirements of the federal program.
Continuing Care Communities Continuing Care Retirement Community A Continuing Care Retirement Community offers independent living, usually in an apartment or cottage, and access to a higher level of care such as personal care or a nursing facility. Residents move between levels of care as their needs change. Services, such as meals, medical care, social and recreational activities, are provided through a contractual arrangement for the lifetime of the resident. Residents usually pay an entrance fee and a monthly charge.
Home Care Agencies Home Care Pennsylvania's Home Care Agencies and Home Care Registries provide non-skilled services to individuals in their homes or other independent living environments.
Home Health Agencies Home Care Pennsylvania's Home Health Agencies provide skilled nursing services and at least one therapeutic service to elderly or disabled patients at their place of residence. Therapeutic services include home health aides, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and medical social services on a part time or intermittent basis.
Hospice Hospice Hospice provides a coordinated program of palliative and supportive services provided in a home, independent living environment or inpatient setting which provides for physical, psychological, social and spiritual care of dying persons and their families. Services are provided by a medically directed interdisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers and bereavement care is available to the family following the death of the patient. Hospice care refers to services provided by such an organization.
Personal Care Homes Personal Care Homes Personal Care Homes are facilities that provide lodging, food and some support services to the elderly, ill or disabled. Residents of PCHs require less medical services than individuals living in Nursing Care Facilities. Typically, residents of PCHs need help with dressing, feeding, taking medications, mobility issues and finances.
Nursing Facility Nursing Nursing facility is defined as an institution (or a distinct part of an institution) which is primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing care and related services for residents who require medical or nursing care, rehabilitation services for the rehabilitation of injured, disabled, or sick persons, or on a regular basis, health-related care and services to individuals who because of their mental or physical condition require care and services (above the level of room and board) which can be made available to them only through institutional facilities, and is not primarily for the care and treatment of mental diseases.
Skilled Nursing Facility Nursing Skilled nursing facility is defined as an institution (or a distinct part of an institution) which is primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing care and related services for residents who require medical or nursing care, or rehabilitation services for the rehabilitation of injured, disabled, or sick persons, and is not primarily for the care and treatment of mental diseases.
