Types of Housing/Care Search Definitions
Adult Day Services Adult Day Care Adult Day Services offers ongoing program of health, social, maintenance and rehabilitative services available to elderly or disabled persons needing this level of service, as determined by an assessment of their functional abilities and need for health and social services.
Assisted Living Facility Assisted Living An Assisted Living Facility is a house or other building that is maintained wholly or partly for the purpose of providing residents with assisted living services. A Level I facility has a licensed capacity for 6 or fewer senior residents and is not otherwise licensed as an Adult Family Care home. A Level II facility has a licensed capacity for 7 or more senior residents.
Home Health Agency Home Health Care A public agency or private organization, or sub-division of such agency or organization, which is primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing services and at least one of the therapeutic service in the residence of the client. Services are provided under orders for care established by a physician.
Home Health Care Services Home Care Home Health Care Services include:

1. Visits by a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse to carry out treatments prescribed, or supportive nursing care and observation as indicated.

2. A physician's home or office visits or both.

3. Visits by a registered physical, speech, occupational, inhalation or dietary therapist for services or for evaluation of, consultation with and instruction of nurses in carrying out such therapy prescribed by the attending physician, or both.

4. Any prescribed laboratory tests and x-ray examination using hospital or community facilities, drugs, dressings, oxygen or medical appliances and equipment as prescribed by a physician, but only to the extent that such charges would have been covered under the contract if the covered person had remained in the hospital.

5. Visits by persons who have completed a home health aide training course under the supervision of a registered nurse for the purpose of giving personal care to the patient and performing light household tasks as required by the plan of care, but not including services.

Hospice Hospice Hospice is a public agency or private organization that is primarily engaged in providing specified services to terminally ill individuals and their families. Hospice provides nursing care, physician services, physical and speech therapy, home health aide, homemaker services, pastoral counseling, social work service, occupational therapy, and dietary services in addition to bereavement counseling. The care is offered as services to patients in institutions, as respite care, as routine home care, or as continuous home care.
Nursing Facility/Long Term Care Nursing A Nursing Facility is an institution or a distinct part of an institution which is primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing care and related services for elderly or disabled residents who require medical or nursing care, rehabilitation services or health-related care and services above the level of room and board.
Residential Care Facility Residential A Level I RCF is a one or two bed facility where residents receive room and board and services as needed.
A Level II RCF is a three to six bed facility where residents receive room and board and services as needed. A family unit primarily operates these facilities.
A Level III RCF is a three to six bed facility where residents receive room and board and services as needed. These facilities are primarily agency owned and operated and employ three or more un-related people.
A Level IV RCF is a facility with more than 7 beds. They also provide room and board and services as needed.
Skilled Nursing Facility/Long Term Care Nursing A Skilled Nursing Facility is an institution or a distinct part of an institution which is primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing care and related services for elderly or disabled residents who require medical or nursing care, rehabilitation services on an inpatient basis and do not require acute level of care.
